Raw materials management

Act sustainably – conserve resources

  • In harmony with nature
  • Through sustainable timber industry
  • Resource conservation through optimal use of technology
  • Materials recycling or biodegradation

Wood is stocked up mostly from surrounding forests. Rhineland-Palatinate is one of the Germany’s most forested regions. Since they are PEFC certified, they provide the basis for sustainable ecological forest management. Our local timber trees include all the technical and visual properties for the specific application.

  • Wood is a renewable resource
  • We only use coniferous wood from sustainable forest management and are PEFC certified
  • Wood binds CO2, which means that the use of cross laminated timber in the construction industry binds CO2 permanently and thus counteracts the greenhouse effect
  • Compared to other construction materials (like concrete, steel or aluminium), timber has a low primary energy need and a positive energy balance
  • Cross laminated timber is ecologically recyclable. At the end of its useful life, ED-CLT can be reused as material or thermally recovered. In thermal use, reconverted cross laminated timber elements emit only the CO2 to the atmosphere that was stored in the wood while the trees were growing. It is also conceivable to reuse the material as dry wood chips for further processing to wood materials
